François Décorchemont – L’alchimie de la matière, de la couleur et de la lumière

May 24, 2025 – November 30, 2025

Painter and master glassmaker, François Décorchemont (1880-1971) created a work that deeply marked the French decorative arts during the 20th century. From the art objects made of glass paste inspired at first by the naturalism of Art Nouveau, then by the aesthetics of Art Deco, to the realization of stained glass windows produced after the Second World War, his creations constantly reveal his research in materials, of colour and light. Through a selection of two hundred works, consisting mainly of objects and stained glass, but also drawings, paintings, models and archives, from the museum’s collections and public and private loans, the Museum of Glass, which took the name of the artist from Conches when it reopened in 2022, is offering him his first retrospective in France this year.
